Now that was cool! So far it looks like a game worth buying, but I want to see some more gameplay before I make my final judgement.

Two New Dead Space Games and A Movie!

by Mike on Jul.27, 2009, under July 2009, News Corner

Variety stated on their news report that EA is going to make two more games of the sci-fi horror game Dead Space.

EA launched the game in 2008 and is working on the second and third installments.

Not only that, Variety also reports that Dead Space is going to be made into a movie. They state that D.J Caruso is going to direct the film and that EA is going to produce the film with Temple Hill partners Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey.

The producers, EA and Caruso have been listening to takes from prospective screenwriters, and once they set a writer and EA signs off on a creative direction, they will auction the property to studios. That will likely happen in early September.

Comments from Mike
I hope this movie will be good. I am a huge fan of sci-fi and horror films! But movies based off a game have always been.. Well, meh.. Oh and two new Dead Space games coming! Yay!

Oh and before I forget, we are not going to have a new episode of Addon Watch this week. Tomorrow you’ll see why.

by Gilga on Jul.15, 2009, under July 2009, News Corner

According to rumors, Microsoft will reveal a new game at this years Comic Con. The Con is held in San Diego lasting from July 23-26:th.

The game is a “project from a renowned, top tier franchise.” Halo? I think not, since they already announced 2 Halo games at E3.

Microsoft will also have stuff to show on Halo 3: ODST, Alan Wake, The Beatles: Rock Band, Left 4 Dead 2 and Gears of War 2: Dark Corners. And a new trailer for Splinter Cell Conviction.

Your guess about the new game is as good as mine.

Starcraft 2 Delayed to 2010?

by Gilga on Jul.13, 2009, under July 2009, News Corner

Recently Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia spoke with The Wall Street Journal. When they spoke about the news of Activision Blizzard decision to delay Singularity, they also spoke of the possibility of Starcraft 2 being delayed to 2010.

The Blizzard title, currently slated for an October 2009 release, saw the launch of its beta version delayed recently, leading Bhatia to believe that it “increasingly appear[s]” the final game will also be delayed, reports the Wall Street Journal.

However, thanks to the presence of Modern Warfare 2 on the slate, analysts don’t believe that any delays to Starcraft 2 will hurt Activision too much, and arguably it would instead offer a significant boost during a quieter Q1 2010.

Keep in mind that this is just speculation, so there is no need to rage just yet.

Modern Warfare 2 Keeps Call of Duty Name

When Modern Warfare 2 was announced, there was a lot of speculation that Activision might be dropping “Call of Duty” title from this game. And that truely seemed to be the case.

But now Activision and Infinity Ward have both stated that they are not going to drop the Call of Duty for Modern Warfare 2. So the game is now officially called “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2″.

MechWarrior “Reboot” Officially Announced

The classic MechWarrior series is going to get a reboot! Instead of releasing MechWarrior 5, Smith and Tinker and Piranha games are going to completely re-launch this entire franchise.

IGN has managed to get the very first details of this game:

There are ambitious plans for this new MechWarrior. The original MechWarrior games were limited by technology; now with modern computing power, the developers are hoping to really capture the sense that you’re piloting a giant, walking war machine in the middle of an incredibly dynamic battlefield.

While the two companies are still talking to potential publishers that could determine the final production budget, Weisman and Bullock explained that they plan to have a full single-player campaign, as well as support for a four-player co-op campaign, and a full multiplayer suite.

MechWarrior is going to be released for PC and Xbox 360. If you want to learn more about this new MechWarrior, head over to IGN and read the whole article.

Modern Warfare 2 keeping the Call of Duty title was a nice move. People who aren’t familiar with the Call of Duty franchise could easily be confused with just “Modern Warfare 2″ title.

And about MechWarrior, reading the article really makes it sound awesome. We will just have to wait and see how it will turn out. I recall playing one of the MechWarrior games long time ago, but it’s really faint so I am not too familiar with this game series.
